Vancouver B.C., April 24, 2015  - On Saturday, April 18, over 600 local spirits enthusiasts sampled their way through the province's finest offerings at BC Distilled, British Columbia's premier micro-distillery festival. With two sold out public events, fourteen unique vendors to the previous year and a pop-up Legacy Liquor Store added, BC Distilled 2015 proved that the micro-distillery industry in British Columbia is here to stay.

Attendees of BC Distilled were invited to choose their favourite vodka, gin and other spirit from twenty-two small-batch distilleries who showcased over seventy different locally made products at the event. There were eleven winners in the three categories with Sons of Vancouver's Amaretto receiving the most votes of any spirit at the show. The results for Best of Show are:

Favourite Vodka:

1st Place: Unruly Vodka by Wayward Distillation House

2nd Place: Sons of Vancouver Vodka

3rd Place: Sons of Vancouver Chili Vodka

Favourite Gin:

1st Place: Noteworthy Gin by Dubh Glas

2nd Place: Unruly Gin by Wayward Distillation House

3rd Place (three-way tie): Long Table London Dry, Gillespie's Sin Gin, and Ampersand Distilling Co. Gin

Favourite Spirit/Liqueur:

1st Place: Sons of Vancouver Amaretto

2nd Place: Odd Society Spirits Vermouth

3rd Place: Victoria Spirits Craigdarroch Whisky

BC Distilled sincerely thanks the 2015 exhibitors and sponsors.

i had the pleasure of attending the industry tasting in the afternoon
i'm happy to see a couple of my picks making it into the best in show
especially as i am not a spirits person - i'm a booze wimp!

my picks:
unruly vodka - it's made from honey! that makes it good for you, right?!
odd society vermouth - not too sweet, not too boozey, lovely straight up and great to mix with
ampersand gin - lovely botanicals
gillespies limoncello - like a lemon sherbet
x4 xoxolat martini - i could drink this every day as dessert - sooooooo thick and rich and cocoa-y!
and all the berry flavour liqueurs

i'm not sure how i missed the sons of vancouver amaretto... i must have been far too distracted by their chili vodka caesar...

highlights of the afternoon were trying all the different bitters and caesar mixes
and chatting to the fine folks who make these spirits about their unique approaches to distilling
