With Thanksgiving around the corner, this is always a great time of year to check in and reflect on what we are thankful for here at CRAFT. The list is long and for that we feel lucky. We apologize in advance for gushing!

First off we are thankful to YOU! Without your support we wouldn’t be able to do what we love every day. To our suppliers and partners, you have become part of our extended family and they provide all the delicious ingredients that go into our food and the tasty beer that we pour. To our community and charity partners – thank you for leading the charge and making a difference in our communities!

To our team, our family – thanks for being there day in and day out, open to close, Monday to Sunday. You are the heart and soul of who we are and we can’t thank you enough!

We had the chance to spend time in Toronto last week with 30 of our team members from across Canada and had such a blast together. And yes – this is considered work! #thankful

MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE
ONE BEER AT A TIME


Our Head Office team, looking all sexy in their hairnets may I add, recently had the opportunity to serve meals at the Calgary Drop-In Centre to the homeless and those who are experiencing tough times. It was a great reminder how the simple of act of serving a meal to someone can really make a difference.

If you find yourself with some extra time over the next little while there are many great organizations that you can volunteer with and that serve special meals over the Thanksgiving long weekend. All it takes is 1 – 2 hours and we promise you, you will walk away with more from that time than the people you are serving. At the end of the day if you don’t have extra time on your hands we get it, life is busy. Just show those pearly whites and give someone a big smile. A sure way to brighten someone’s day!

GOLDEN EARS CHEESECRAFTERS

 

Run by two sisters, Golden Ears Cheesecrafters is the Fraser Valley’s newest artisan cheese processing facility.  A variety of artisan cheeses, fresh cheddar curds and cultured butter are carefully hand-crafted using 100% Canadian quality milk.  This premium milk is taken from their family dairy, located right next door. The milk used is from grass-fed Jersey cows; fresh and free of hormones and antibiotics.

Each month we feature one of our amazing partners and share their story with you as well as let you know how you can experience their great products.

PUCKER UP FOR SOUR BEERS


Most people think of Pumpkin Ales around this time of year but we wanted to showcase one of our favourite styles of beer – sour ones! Now we know that this style of beer isn’t for everyone but it has been making an impact so we thought this was a great time to take a closer look.

History
Sour beers originated in the Flemish region of Belgium, and quickly grew across the entire country where styles, such as the Flanders Red Ale, have been named after cities. Belgium was, and still is, famous for having natural open tank fermentation which allows all the natural and wild yeast floating around us in to ferment their ales. Natural yeast can be found in the air with the wind picking up yeast from the fields, bodies of waters, animals, trees etc.

Recommendations
Try a classic Belgium sour such as the Duchesse de Bourgogne or Kasteel. We also have a rotating Sour Tower which always has something unique for you to try. Not sure if a sour is for you? Ask for a sample and pucker up!

TURKEY LEGS - WHO KNEW?

Wild turkeys can run at speeds up to 25 miles per hour. They can also fly up to a mile at a time and can reach up to 55mph. I guess haven’t turkey legs isn’t such a bad thing after all!
