new release

Join us on Friday, November 18, as we will be kicking of the nearing winter season with our Hot Chocolate Porter

For Immediate Release
Thursday, November 17, 2016

As the days get shorter and a noticeable bite enters the air, our minds turn to those comforts that get us through this long Canadian winter. Some of them are from our childhood; warm fires, seasonal films and a mug of Hot Chocolate with too many marshmallows. Some of them are new and more representative of a life lived. We still have the warm fires but now they are accompanied by dark French chocolate and rich Porters.

Sourcing chocolate through Wim Tas of ChocolaTas, a Belgian Master Chocolatier who now makes his home in Abbotsford, we have brought past and present together in one glass. Join us on Friday, November 18, as we will be kicking of the nearing winter season with our Hot Chocolate Porter. A robust porter aged on raw cacao nibs with a velvety vanilla finish. We will have giveaways, chocolate from ChocolaTas, and Real Beer floats. We can't wait to see you.

east van panto beer

Bomber Brewing is very pleased to again be partnering with the Cultch as they present Theatre Replacement's Little Red Riding Hood: An East Van Panto. Late additions of Enigma and Citra hops add big, bold hop flavour and aroma
with none of the expected bitterness that usually follows. Our liberal use of Cara Red malt gives Wolf at the Door a scary red hue, but don't let the colour intimidate you; this well balanced, malt-forward, easy drinking red ale is really a gentle and friendly Granny in Wolf's clothing.
*A portion of all Wolf at the Door sales will go to support more outstanding East Van productions. A promotional code on every bottle allows theatre goers to receive a discount on panto tickets.
About Wolf at the Door:
Appearance: Warm red tones, full ivory head
Aroma: Big tropical and citrus notes
Flavour: Grapefruit, toasted malts, light hop finish
Mouthfeel: Smooth with medium high carbonation
ABV = 5%
Original Gravity = 1.047

Winter Beer - Winter Cheer

Squamish, BC – As autumn gives way to winter in Sea to Sky Country we celebrate the changing seasons with three brew releases: our Chiapas Coffee Ale; our Father John Winter Ale, an old favourite; plus an exciting new Sea to Sky Series, Limited Release brew, a Baltic Porter with Red Grape.

Howe Sound Brewing celebrates winter with the return of an old favourite, Father John's Winter ale. This revitalized  release, showcases  the brewery team’s love of flavour, but with a slightly lighter version of our original.

Our head brewer, Simon reports "This beer combines notes of sweet biscuit, roast and caramel with a spice blend that brings with it memories of winter cheer and holiday warmth."
BEER STYLE:  Winter Ale
ABV: 4.4%
IBU: 17
Food Pairings: Winter beers are surprisingly versatile and pair well with cheeses, desserts, tapas, finger foods, stone fruits and chutneys.  Father John is nicely balanced and a delightful addition to the winter pantry.
Father John's Winter Ale is named after John Mitchell, Howe Sound's original brewer and one of the founders of Canada's craft beer renaissance.

Baltic Porter is an old style beer originating in the Baltic states in the 1800's. The style is unique because it is fermented with lager yeast which creates a crisp smooth finish. It is conditioned over a two month period before packaging. Red Grape must is added at the end of the fermentation to add complexity and intrigue to the beer.

Simon Jongsma, head brewer comments, " A rich Baltic Porter with notes of raisin, plum, dark chocolate, and toffee. The addition of red grape adds a complex aroma of sweet cherry and currant with a delicate finish. The combination of a very old traditional style of beer with the red grape creates a very elegant beer with complexity that continues to grow with every sip."

BEER STYLE:  Baltic Porter
ABV: 7.5%
IBU: 30

Food Pairings: Excellent with smoked or grilled meats such as beef, pork or poultry, hearty stew or soups. Pairs well with rich deep chocolate, dark fruit/berries with the red wine notes.

Mexican Chiapas Coffee Amber Ale -- Perfect pick me up for November Days.
The use of cold brewed coffee gives a hint of smooth and fresh coffee to this balanced amber ale, with roasted, earthy, caramel and nutty flavours.

Simon Jongsma, head brewer says, " This amber ale was brewed specifically to complement Mexican Chiapas coffee roasted by Galileo Coffee Company, a local Squamish coffee roaster.  It is a beautiful sipping beer with tastes of coffee and a favourite seasonal."
BEER STYLE:  Coffee Ale
ABV: 5.5%
IBU: 22

Food Pairings: perfect with cheeses, savory foods, vanilla ice cream and chocolate desserts.
